Leo in Williamsburg is lowkey one of my go-tos in the neighborhood and might have the most underrated pizza in all of New York City! Not to menion an incredible natural wine list, and what might be the best caesar salad ever!

Tell us about your restaurant?
Leo is my first restaurant that I opened in 2019 with my partner Mike. We had been traveling through Europe a bit and really saw an opportunity in New York for a sort of pizza bistro that didn’t exist at the time in New York. It’s evolved so much since we’ve opened to more than we ever imagined.
What makes the perfect pizza in your mind?
Pizza is truly so subjective. I’ve been fortunate enough to try some of the best pizzas in the world and I can’t really even explain what’s been my favorite. So much has to do with time and place with pizza.
If someone hasn’t had sourdough pizza before, what are they missing?
Bread and pizza has been made the way we do it for so long. It’s really just a dough that has a bit more flavor and makes a really digestible product. It’s helpful for our regulars that come so often that we make food thats a bit lighter and nourishing.
Whats your personal favorite thing on the menu?
I really love our pastas. I think they are a bit underrated and I am proud of our tiramisu, I think it was the first recipe we ever made for the restaurant
What is the most iconic NYC restaurant in your eyes?
I grew up here in NYC and was exposed to a lot of incredible restaurants. For me personally I think Elios on the upper east side. Also I have a personal connection to La Esquina since it was my first restaurant job. It’s not a part of the conversation anymore, but I think people forget how unique and popular it was in the early days.
