EXPERT’S WORDS: Jeremy Jacobowitz🎤

The idea that the "best" food or restaurant exists is honestly a myth, and of course I’m guilty of using that word too much in my own content. I recently posted a video proclaiming Nathan’s fries as “the best in the world.” But when I step back and think about it, there are several layers to this, and I’ve learned to choose my words carefully when sharing online.

If I say “the best,” how do I really know? I haven’t tried every single fry on Earth. What really mean is “my favorite” or “our favorite,” but that doesn’t grab attention the same way online. As creators, we rely on words like “best” because they spark discussion, stop people mid-scroll, and invite opinions. If I say “these are my favorite fries,” most people keep scrolling; but “the best fries” gets a reaction, even if it’s just to disagree or be curious.

When it comes to my travel content, especially after trips like my recent one to Dallas, I’m very intentional about the language I use. I’ll title a video “10 must eat places when you visit Dallas,” not “the 10 best restaurants.” The idea isn’t to claim they’re objectively the best; it’s to share meaningful, representative, or beloved spots that tell a story about the city from my perspective, as a tourist. If you live in Dallas, you’ve probably already been to these places. My approach is to showcase what I discovered and loved in the short time I had

What makes a place special for me is how it embodies the local culture or leaves an impression. In New York, I’ll mention Utopia Bagels or Joe’s Pizza—not because they’re the “best” in some universal sense, but because they represent something essential about New York City.

Ultimately, “best” is unattainable and meaningless in food; it’s all opinion. What I strive to deliver is a sense of discovery, a taste of what makes a city unique through food and experience, from the perspective of a visitor eager to learn and explore. So when I ask for your favorite restaurants, I mean just that, your favorite, not the “best.” No one knows what the best is; it’s all personal, and that’s what makes food so exciting.

MOVIE

I’ve been slowly making my way through my DVD collection, yes i still love physical media, and I finally got around to Uncut Gems, directed by the Safdie brothers and starring Adam Sandler. From the very first moment, I was completely hooked. The film’s relentless pacing, raw tension, and Sandler’s career-best performance had me on edge the entire time. I enjoyed it so much that I immediately rewatched it, this time with the director’s commentary. A must watch! Buy Here

MOVIE

I had the incredible opportunity to attend the premiere of Darren Aronofsky’s latest film, Caught Staling, starring Austin Butler, and an unexpectedly unforgettable turn from the real star of the night, Tonic the Cat. Walking the red carpet still feels surreal (and a little awkward), but it made for such a fun experience leading up to the screening.

The film itself is a tense, atmospheric thriller that blends Aronofsky’s signature intensity with a gritty crime narrative. Set against a shadowy New York backdrop in 1998. Fun film, lots of twists and turns, but maybe a little too violent for me, i’ve been very sensitive lately!
