BEST BITE OF THE WEEK 🍴

Moonburger has been on my radar since opening upstate a few years ago, and I was so excited to see their first location in New York City! Let’s call it “new school” fast food, I was fascinated with the idea of serving only Impossible beef burgers, but the menu is not vegan, as the cheeseburger comes with American cheese! My favorite on the menu though… the oatmilk brownie batter milkshake which I got with the addition of espresso and whipped cream!

OWNER’S WORDS: Jeremy Robinson-Leon🎤

Tell us about your restaurant?

We call Moonburger a classic burger stop made for now and made for everyone. For us, it's simple: it's about really good burgers and a delightful experience every time. We try to keep it light, surprising, and fun -- and maintain a sense of boundlessness.

Why was the choice made to use Impossible beef specficially?

Our aim is to serve a really good burger -- by any measure. It's exciting and it's future-forward, but the way we do it is rooted in the history of classic smash burgers that have come before us. On that note, we're so honored to get on Eater's list of best smash burgers in NYC (all of the others of which are beef burgers!)

What made you choose Williamsburg as the 1st NYC location?

We love it. And full disclosure, I lived in the neighborhood for 13 years before moving upstate to Kingston, so it's near and dear to me. We're real excited to join the community and aim to bring folks -- both our neighbors and all the people who visit -- something uniquely wonderful. Williamsburg’s overall energy in food and fun is still unmatched.

Whats your personal favorite thing on the menu?

With only five or so items on the menu, I’d be lying if I told you I didn’t love it all. But I’ve got a real weakness for the Hamburglar, our off-menu take on a certain cheeseburger from a certain iconic fast food chain… (ok i need this!-Jeremy)

What is the most iconic NYC restaurant in your eyes?

It’s gotta be Diner for me. It’s a Williamsburg institution and set the stage for so many great places that have followed. I’ve surely eaten there more than any other restaurant in the city, and it’s remained assuredly itself since the beginning.
