BEST BITE OF THE WEEK 🍴
Inday All Day in Williamsburg has been my favorite spot in NYC to order in Indian food for awhile! I’m constantly craving their chicken biryani, saag paneer, and more! But when they told me that they were adding a brand new lamb smashburger, and a butter chicken parm sandwich, I had to RUN to try them!
OWNER’S WORDS: Basu Ratnam🎤
Tell us about your restaurant?
INDAY All Day is a neighborhood restaurant that celebrates the Indian American food & hospitality. We wanted to create a place where you could come in for a morning chai to evening cocktails, bright lunch or a shareable feast. Our menu captures my experience as an Indian American that is exploring the tension and connection between both food cultures.
What was the idea behing the new smashburger and chicken parm on the menu?
Our chef at the restaurant, Woodrow Merkowitz, like me grew up in Long Island and share a love for sandwiches of all kinds. The Butter Chicken parm we launched for march madness because we wanted something you could dunk and was great for delivery, it was so popular we've kept it on the menu. The smash burger was put on because I wanted to do a lamb burger, and we tried a bunch of different styles, but kept coming back to the simplicity and the elegance of the smash. We make a beautiful turmeric pickle and cumin mayo which compliment the gameyness of the freshly ground lamb and of course we had to add cooper sharp. It's simple but craveable.
Whats your personal favorite thing on the menu?
We just put a lamb seekh kebab on the menu that I'm obsessed with. We've been tweaking seekh kebabs for years, and our chefs re-imagined it from the lens of a kofta. We add a ton of aromatics, lime zest and yogurt so it's really bright and flavorful compared to a traditional one. I'm proud of it and think the platter it comes on is one of the best deals in town.
What is the most iconic NYC restaurant in your eyes?
Peter Luger's. We've been celebrating family holidays there since I can remember. It's my favorite steak and burger in a town full of great versions of both. It feels like New York to me and hope it never changes.
