What was the process for ranking?
So I went through every single burger I have eaten in NYC, basically since I started really taking content creation seriously about 15 years ago! I keep my google drive perfectly in order, so it wasn’t that hard to go back through every single restaurant and see! The benefits of always taking photos and tracking! I started with the first one that popped up, and then weigh each against each other on a tier board. That got me close, but then I really went through them and asked “is this better than the next”? It was a struggled, but happy where I got with 1-39!
What were some key takeaways?
It was really interesting going through all of them! The hardest part was seeing just how many great NYC burgers and restaurants we have lost over the years, because I definitely have eaten more than 39! Also-
⅓ Come with fries
$3.50 is the least expensive
$38.99 is the most expensive
Ave price is $21.34
36% are Smashburgers
How do you spell pattie? Patty?
Do you capitalize American cheese?
Smashburger vs a REALLY smashed burger is interesting to see
Highlights from the list
2) Lena at Mercado Little Spain- The Txuleburger from Chef Jose Andres’ Lena is unbelievable for a number of reasons, but it all starts with their 8 once patty made from a 60 day dry aged ribeye that's cooked in a charcoal oven that gives is this amazing smokey flavor, and incredible char! Pair that with their secret brava sauce, American cheese, and pickled green peppers, and you have one of the best burgers in the city! $32
6) Miznon- The only burger on this list in a pita, but I still think that counts! Especially when it's in an Angel’s Bakery pita, the absolute best! But let's talk about what's inside their folded cheeseburger! This super thin burger gets a crusty layer of cheddar, garlic aioli, sour cream, tomato, and pickles! It's a texture EXPERIENCE and I loved the garlic aioli in there. $17
13) Flyfish Club- Josh Capon knows a burger, and the one he has created for Flyfish Club doesn't disappoint! On a sesame bun you get a 7oz custom blend with comte cheese, red onions, a short rib marmalade, dijonaise, and pickles! All savory with just that little bit of sweetness and that dijon mustard coming through. $34 with fries
20) Cafe 20 Grams at Jubilee Greenpoint- Inside of the Jubilee market in Greenpoint you will find Cafe 20 Grams and the cheapest burger on this list, their slider! Don’t let cheap make you think this isn't packed with flavor! The local NY grass fed beef pattie gets grilled onions, pickles, cheese, special sauce, and the secret to their burger, a garlic confit! $3.50
39) Paul’s Da Burger Joint- An East Village mainstay for decades, this burger joint not only has the biggest menu of burgers, but the biggest burgers too! These are enormous ½ pound patties, and they aren't afraid to stack them up either, this is a big bite burger. I got the Eastsider Burger which loads up bacon, ham, mushrooms, tomatoes, and onions on this super soft bun! Definitely a burger experience you need to have, but not my favorite burger. $17.50

BOOK
I read my 3rd book this year! “You Never Forget Your First” from Alexis Coe is a biography of George Washington! For someone with hardcore ADD, the way she formatted this book, with short chapters, and non textbook writing, it was a breeze to read! Not only have I forgotten most of what I’ve learned about Washington, but there is so much I never knew, and she speaks to this in the book, but I do think her perspective as a female writing about Washington, adds a fresh take on our first president. She labels most of his biographers as “thigh men” those obsessed with this masculinity, victories on the battlefield, and harsher takes on the women in his life. There is so much more to his life then just the war, and at a time where we are seeing the foundations of our country falling, I think its important to learn about how those foundations were built! VIDEOGAMES
You wouldn’t think a game about cleaning up brutal crime scenes can be zen and calming, but that’s exactly what “Crime Scene Cleaner” is! It’s basically a cleaning simulation game where you are tasked with cleaning bloody, horrific murder scenes with a mob and sponge, and a few other tools! Where so many games are about killing, and going as fast you can, this is all about chill vibes, and the satisfaction of wiping away all of the blood, drop by drop. It’s like the satisfaction you get from watching a power cleaner, am i the only one?! Along the way there are secrets, and some puzzles to solve, but this is a pretty easy, one, taking me about 15 hours to complete! The game is cross platform, but free to download if you have Xbox Game Pass.
