BEST BITE OF THE WEEK 🍴

From the acclaimed chef of Cosme, Enrique Olvera, comes Esse Taco in Williamsburg! Small but excellent menu of tacos with a focus on fresh masa tortillas, but it was the “gringa style” flour tortilla tacos that ended up being my favorite! PLUS a twist on Cosme’s famous corn husk merginue dessert! See full video below!

Tell us about your restaurant?

With Esse Taco, we aim to participate in the contemporary food conversation and contribute to the growing popularity of Mexican food in the United States. Tacos are increasingly becoming one of the most common and present options in people's daily lives, and Esse Taco seeks to be part of this. We are not reinventing the wheel but rather doing what we do best and putting out the best quality expression we can.

Whats your personal favorite thing on the menu?

I think the smoked oyster mushroom is incredible. People tend to skip over it, thinking it's “just the vegetarian option,” but it is absolutely phenomenal. The deep mushroom flavor, with the slightly spicy bean paste and the fresh Tatemada salsa, make for a perfectly balanced joy of a bite.

Why did you choose to open in Williamsburg?

It is such a young and dynamic neighborhood full of people who enjoy food. We wanted to open Esse in a community-oriented area and really want to embed ourselves in the neighborhood's food culture.

What is the most iconic NYC restaurant in your eyes?

When I am not at Cosme ;) I love either a classic like Estela or an innovative fresh take like Falansai
